Specializing in Anxiety and Perfectionism

Counseling in Champaign, IL

Another project is due and everything tells you it should be fine but you’re still afraid of failure. You want to make sure everything is perfect before someone else sees your work. You know people are going to judge you. You’re so tired of trying hard and not getting anywhere. You just know in your bones that you can do better, but it just isn’t happening. And you worry about what happens from here. After you’re done with school or this first job, you need to have it all planned out, but things keep getting in your way. You feel afraid, afraid for all the change that lies ahead. It feels like you’re alone and no one really understands. You’ve tried talking to friends about your worries, but they all say there’s no way things could be that bad. They point to how well you’re doing in school or at work. And tell you that you always have things together, but they don’t know what it’s like to be you at home behind closed doors. You just show that face of perfection when you’re at school and work. At this point, you’re going through the motions and trying to stop feeling anything at all.

What you’re doing now just isn’t working

You’ve tried the meditation apps and keep trying to practice “self-care.” It helps sometimes, but it doesn’t always feel like it’s doing enough. You’re not sure if you need to see a counselor, a coach, a psychiatrist, or a psychologist. You know you don’t want to keep doing things the same way day in and day out.

I’m Andrew, and I want to help you grow!

Andrew Ritchie Counselor in Champaign Specializing in Anxiety and Perfectionism

I am a counselor in Champaign, IL and I help young adults who are perfectionists, whether they are in school or early in their careers, who feel like things are out of control learn to make sense of the changes happening in their lives and learn to accept themselves and find their place in their own life. I make room for humor while we talk about problems. My clients tell me that they have a better understanding of how their brain works and how to react to their anxiety and overactive thoughts. I give you the space to share your piece and help you make sense of what obstacles are getting in the way. Through our conversations we’ll learn how to best handle your worries, and how to approach these changes in your life that leave you feeling anxious. I may ask you to try things again from time to time because we’re experimenting together to find the solutions. Counseling can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be a mystery or leave you feeling misunderstood.
